The location is excellent. Proximity of the public transportation and the central train station is most valuable

Strong moldy smell at the staircase

  • Single

it is in the city center and shops and tourist attractions are just nearby...

they do not have an elevator, i had a big luggage and have to climb all the way up to the 3rd storey, and the staircase is spiral and very steep. Not advisable for old people.....

  • Older travelers

We liked the central position of the hotel and all internal management . We consider that the hotel Agora is a good value for money .

If possible , to reduce ventilation noise in the backyard and the noise from the next building only in the weekend , where is a disco club .

  • Older travelers

Staff were very friendly. Room small but very comfortable and clean. Excellent location for site-seeing.

Reception was closed from 3 pm til next morning with a sign on the door saying they would be back in a moment. Little offered for breakfast - Had to ask for more of everything - even coffee

The hotel location is very good, a few minutes by foot from the center and Centraal Station. Hotel staff were very helpful and I could even upgrade my room when I was already at the hotel (to a room with an eb suite bathroom, I must have not paid attention that my original room had a private bathroom on the hallway). The rooms are bit old fashioned and could use a touch up, but the location makes it up for it.

Internet connection at the top floor was not stable. There is no elevator, if you're coming with a lot of luggage.

  • Couple

Great location. Our room was very small, but nice.

Internet service was not available due to lack of keyboard, which was stolen and missing for several day and no one considered it necessary to buy new one.

Good location, next to tramline and flowermarket, close to Leidseplein and Kalverstraat. Free wifi. Friendly staff. 24-hour access with keycard. Happy to look after luggage before check-in and after check-out, and let me into my room hours earlier than the stated time since it was ready. Breakfast included.

Stairs and room a little neglected, and could have been cleaner - there was a toenail on my carpet, and it wasn't one of my own! Limited staff at breakfast-time: they seemed a little overwhelmed even though there weren't too many customers. My room was advertised as having a "garden/courtyard view", but the only view was of some offices in the building behind.

  • Couple

Location is excellent, 2 to 10 minutes walk from everthing interesting in Amsterdam downtown

Breakfast was messy due to one person from the staff arriving late, next to the hotel there is a club playing loud disco music that you could ear at the 4th floor until 5AM on Saturday night

  • Group of friends

Excellent location, I´ve been there already 5 times and always coming to Amsterdam I am looking for free rooms in this hotel. If you don´t expect luxury but you want to have a "luxurious address" for reasonable money, come here.

Would be nice if a hotel manager checked all the rooms and let repair the little things that have a negative impact on the hotel image (e.g. in room 34 there is a broken the electrical outlet - it could be very dangerous for children and there is a broken window). I´ve seen a lot of little things that can be very easily and cheaply repaired and it would improve the total image a lot.

  • Group of friends

After the first night it was quiet and peaceful. The room furnishings were clean but quaint. Although room up very narrow stairs a male receptionist was on who carry our heavy suitcases up for us.

Surely if something is not liked it is a complaint. We did not like being kept awake till 7am by very heavy bass music from party next to hotel. Spoke to manager of night club and he said that he had been given permission by council to have loud music these two nights and that he had warned the hotels on either side of this a month previously. So we should have been warned of this. Meant ot have twon beds but a double for my daughter and I. Meant to be change 2nd day but weren't. I refused to pay the full amoung of 270E and paid 200E but of course the other 70E could have been removed from my Visa account which I haven't check as yet.

The location is great, close to everything. Really good location.

One man of the staff, was pretty rude. The other were fine. Breakfast is poor, and the room (the one in the top floor, the cheapest one) is not nice. The only thing nice is the bathroom, which is outside the door.

  • Group of friends

we were welcome, butn the room wasn't readyn yet(12 a.m.) we were asked to come back in 30 minutes.....the room was clean but very old,the best part was the shower room, very large and powerfool.....very small tv.

  • Older travelers

We did like the location of the hotel at the Singel in Amsterdam.

When we arrived and we saw the front side of the hotel, it was a bit a shock to us. It looked verry poor. The breakfest was verry simple an the foor in the room needs to be renewed. The foor was so durty that is cannot be cleaned.

  • Older travelers

Good location, next to tramline and flowermarket,

They do not have an elevator, we had to climb all the way up to the 3rd storey, and the staircase is very steep. Not advisable for old people.....Our room was dirty, scruffy, mis-described, very small, very disappointing. And when we asked for another room, the lady that was working that day simply said that was the room we had payed for!!!

  • Couple

The hotel was extremly comfortable. The staff were quiet helpful and the location was perfect for a city break. I also liked that the entrance to the hotel was by key only and made the hotel quiet secure.

I would of preferred if smoking was allowed in some rooms in hotel. I would have liked the option to have a smoking or non smoking room.
