The coolness of the staff
Rooms, halls and actually every place in the hotel was lacking light. They need to invest more in lighting in all area. The lack of light provides sad and obscure atmosphere to the hotel.
Location was very good.
It was quite hard to get to the 3rd floor by narrow stair without the lift or help from stuff. Luckily my friends and I had only a small suitcase. I would never have managed it with the big one. The hotel needs some refurbishment: new furniture in the rooms, curtains and carpet would make it fresher and more comfortable. Breakfast was very poor. We only had a cup of tea/coffee there.
Most courteous staff, excellent location, free wifi. Looks a bit old and worn out, but it's actually a lot better than a some other hotels I have stayed in Amsterdam
Yes, you can hear the club which is right next door, but if you are planning to have a good time in Amsterdam than it's not going to bother you too much.
Very nice quiet chilled out hotel, staff very helpful and friendly.
Its not a complaint as such, its just the opinion of someone who has been in catering a while. The breakfast could have been a bit more interesting should i say, nothing that some croisants and some danish pastries couldnt hace sorted out. The option of a full english breakfast for another few euros might been a way to keep some of the bigger guys i was sat next to a bit happier. I was quite hungry in the mornings and im a light slim guy,if i was still hungry then the bigger guys would have been eaten a cooked breakfast and probably paid extra. But for what i t was it was good, that was just a suggestion not a complaint. The younger girl who was re-stocking the breakfast wasnt interested in working too hard, and hardly refilled anything, but the blonde guy, dutch or lived in amsterdam, really cool guy that let us keep our suitcases under the stairs under it was time to go was very good.
The only good point is the location.....
Dirty, Dusty, Bad Breakfast....
The location near Flower Market
Our first impression of the hotel Agora is how run down it was and the greeting of the stacks of rubbish outside the door, that noone bothered to remove the whole time we were there. When we got our very small but quiet room, there no towels, no pillow cases and the curtains were falling down... We had to use a hair grip to keep them closed.. The request for items was dealt with immediately and with an apology... This hotel is far too expensive for what you get... But it's the rate in Amsterdam. I have paid the same rate in several European cities for 5 star luxury.. I think I would have needed to double my budget to get the same standard. Breakfast was basic but adequate. I will not be returning.
Staff very friendly and charmful
They made a mistake with my booking but they knew how to solve it
Quirkey old features
height of the steps - quite a hike
Staff did not comply with request for wake up call and we had to rush to get our plane Staff had said that even though we had to leave before the included breakfast was served they would make coffee for us. They did not. Description of accommodation at 2and a half stars might be an exaggeration as there was only a shared bath. Four floors to walk up. No glasses in room. And an open attic window at the end of the hall which lead to the roof was the fire escape.
Warm and friendly, the room was clean and you felt comfortable.
This would be a reasonable hostel if the rooms were a quarter of the price that they actually charge. There is free wifi, and the staff were relaxed, friendly and helpful.
Noisy - night club next door with music until 4am and people talking and shouting outside, presumably because of the smoking ban. A band was practising nearby in the morning. Poorly maintained room - light switch cover missing, shower screen broken. Room service issues - dirty towels on the floor not taken away when the room was cleaned, and someone walked into the room without knocking early in the morning of my last day (i.e. when no cleaning was due).
The only positive opinion is LOCATION.
Cleaning - not good Smell of cigarettes and wet carpet, no ventilation Short staff
Conveniencely located next to tram station, next to flower market. Breakfast inclusive and is lovely continental breakfast. Canal view.
Not walking distance to Central Station, if you need to take train frequent, should stay nearer to Central Station. No lift, very small stairs, not suitable with big luggage.
Dirty, mosquitoes, stained walls, used chewing gum on walls. Dirty bathroom. Scaffolding outside bedroom with and builders on it at 7.00am. Do not book. Have pictures.
The bathroom was ok
Very tired hotel, which needs a good update, stains on bedroom ceiling, small room. They missed our early morning call, which was for us to catch a flight, good job we woke ourselves. Expensive for what it was.
